Scenography relates to the study and practice of performance design that merges together the audience,the performance and the space. Its is the art of creating a space within a given space which is dramatized by the use of lighting, sound, graphics, sets and even the costumes. This synergy brings out a new perspective, mood and environment to the narrative. Following is the macquette for the narrative ‘Eurydice & Orpheus’. The play of light and shadow creates a drama on the set and the varying hues add contrast and give character to the space, accentuating its facets.

The scene is depicted using shadow puppetry, where Orpheus is taught playing the lyre by his father, Apollo. Paper cut outs were used as stencils.
In this scene Orpheus mesmerizes the entire surrounding by playing his lyre. The lighting used creates a joyful and merry atmosphere.
This scene is about how Orpheus and Eurydice met and fell in love with each other.
This scene is where Eurydice is running away from the shepherd and is bitten by the snake. The green lighting creates a dark, dingy and threatening atmosphere.
After dying Eurydice was pulled down to the underworld, this was shown through the pull down mechanism at the center of the stage.
Eurycice’s death being mourned by Orpheus.
Orpheus’ journey to the underworld, where he goes to get his wife back. He is protected by the Gods which is shown by the spot light on him. The background also has people trying to escape the underworld which is shown by the use of cloth.
This scene depicts how Orpheus’ music melts away the cold heart of Pluto and his wife, because of which he is given a chance to take his wife back. The red lighting creates an effect of fear, death and misery.
This scene shows their journey back to the earth, where Eurydice follows Orpheus but he is losing his faith in the gods and is about to turn back because of which he loses his wife forever.Eurydice is shown as a shadow and is waking behind the cloth as the spotlight follows her.
